Ruffled ballerinas

I was so bored by my H&M ballerinas. Every season the same, just different colors. And of course, everybody is wearing them in Sweden (well, they are cheap and comfortable). I found inspiration in Disney and her great tutorial  and remade my ballerinas. It is a loose interpretation, but idea is her and she deserves the credit. She is indeed fantastic and I always get inspired by her posts.

Catnip Heart for My Valentine

I've made a Catnip Valentine Mouse according to this lovely tutorial. Well, you can just judge yourself how my kitty likes it... ;)

Tuesday = Thrifting Day

Did not achieve much during the last week due to overload of other works. But today, as usually on Tuesday, I went for a little 'hunting'. Here is what I've thrifted today.

From the striped fabric I plan to make underwear bags that I can take with me to the gym or swimming pool (I hate plastic bags!), the fabric with flowers have no purpose yet (but since it costed lest than a dollar I could not resist buying it), and the last fabric will became curtain in our hobby room.

The pink flower (around 0,5$) was bought with the special purpose in mind. My sister-in-law's birthday party has a color pink as a main theme and since I have no pink clothes whatsoever, I thought I could accessorize a black dress with this flower. What do you think?

I just could not resist their charm...

Unfortunately not originals, but I got them as an addition to a certain outfit.

And all of above for aroud 5$. I simply love second hands in Stockholm.

the Pledge

I forgot to write, that I took kind of a pledge with my friend. We've decided to restrain ourselves from buying new clothes for the whole 2010!. We may of course buy second hand or re-purpose old clothing. And that is what I will do. No more consumption. I guess this is some kind of manifesting to my surrounding that you don't need to be a fashion victim to look good.
Shoes I have to buy new if I need them, because a thought of wearing somebody else's shoes does not appeal to me at all. But I'll try to be smart and ecologic.
Wish me luck! ;)

Shy Welcome

Honestly, I've never thought I'll start blogging. But here I am. What do I do here? I don't know yet. I was always looking through others bloggs to look at all those beautiful stuff they make and to get inspired. Maybe it's time to inspire somebody in return?
Please, don't expect miracles. I am a beginner when it comes to both - blogging and sewing. But my determination is great and I will not give up. And some encouragement form the readers would be appreciated;)
So, if by any strange coincidence you ended up on this blog, please take a look around, leave a comment and keep coming from time to time. I hope to post as often as I have something worthy to show.
Welcome!
